Selene Necklace

Selene is the archaic goddess of the Moon, the Titan or in other versions, daughter of Zeus or Palas and sister of Eos and Helios. In both European myths and traditional Asian stories, the Moon is associated with a female figure and a love story. She is the confidant of lovers, the confessor of our deepest desires.

Selene fell in love with a beautiful shepherd, Endymion, so deeply that she asked Hypnos to grant him eternal life so that they could always be together. Hypnos granted her wish, giving him an eternal sleep and since then, every night, Selene visits him on Mount Latmo, where he waits for her and they share the nights, illuminating the night sky on her way.

The inspiration for this collection comes on a full moon night, in a small town on the Levantine coast. The moon reflected its brightness on the waters of the Mediterranean, generating a sublime, spectral image. And so the image of this landscape becomes a jewel.

Meanings of gems and their moons:

Black Onyx, or the New Moon: A gem traditionally used for protection, it is used in times of great stress and life changes.
Red onyx, Red Moon: Helps to achieve self-realization and reinforces self-confidence. Brings physical and spiritual harmony.
Labradorite, or lunar eclipse: Stimulates intuition, strengthens faith in the Self and trust in the universe.
